The New Me

In other news.... I started in my new position as a Quality Assurance Technician on Tuesday 9th Oct. In summary it is my job to audit and maintain standards and procedures in the factory and with the staff to uphold the standards and requirements put in place by apetito in accordance with the Quality and HACCP manuals. I am in my second week and already able to do certain tasks unsupervised. I've been introduced to more people than I can remember the names of, a couple in particular that have been really lovely and/or helpful. I have even found another avid reader and we are doing some swaps of books we have read. So all in all I have been made to feel really welcome. The only downsides so far are that the check weight machines in Meals Department are a little more confusing than others due to larger tare weights and these unsettle me a bit. We also have some  issues during our Metal Detector testing exercise, but all fixable or things that I will get used to. I have many duties to do throughout my day but we have set routines in place for the checks that must be made daily/weekly/monthly due to there  necessary frequency and importance. For instance, sets of scales, check weight machines, uniform, equipment cleanliness and sanitation areas and depositories are just a few of the things checked up to 4 times daily. Glass and Plastics audits are also a requirement as well as Engineering, Hygiene and others. Everything is documented, recorded and then acted upon or put into records for 3 years.
I am literally on the tip of the iceberg of learning the ropes, there is check weight and x-ray calibration to learn, to be able to complete audits, file them and follow them up, and with the daily routine checks to learn what steps to take in the event that something goes wrong - as of yet, it's all worked accurately, which of course, is what we want to see. So I am looking forward to gradually expanding my duties and qualifications!
