Art

I happen to be a tattooed lady. I have 5... Hold on, let me count... Yes, 5.
I began my collection on my 18th Birthday on a trip to Cheddar Gorge with my mum. I had been thinking of having my star sign done on my stomach for a few years, and so when the guy said he could fit me in that day, and I was finally old enough, I went for it. since then I have had a few impulse tattoo's, which I wouldn't recommend, this is how the universe on my wrist was born. Followed by the Butterfly due to the loss of my step mother, which was not done correctly the original time and I had added to later by impulse after asking a tattooist about it and he drew on me in biro pen what he could change and I loved it, so he arranged for me to come back later that day to have it altered. Now it's elegant, pretty and holds it's meaning more than ever. I then had the paw print several years later when my friend told me about an artist doing them for £35 and the money was going to Bath Cats & Dogs Home, - a local animal shelter. The paw print is the rescue's logo. The work in progress is the rabbit moon I have currently is because I love my beautiful bunnies, and I lost my previous doe unexpectedly and suddenly last year and was and still am, devastated, so this one is a bit of tribute to her memory; It's unique & special, just like she was.
I am looking forward to adding to my gallery after the nuptials, and have found some choice pieces to add to my collection. I have wanted a Koi fish for so long and I think I'll go for it after my rabbit is finished, I'd like to turn the wispy grey scale of the tree on my back into swirls of water & then have the Koi curling upwards onto my ribs. I have also found a lovely picture of a Dandelion Clock, though I am still thinking of a placement.
I consider tattoo's to be art, depending on what they are of, for instance, I feel my paw print and the stars I have to be just skin images really, though this does not mean I regret them or like them any less than the others. My rabbit moon and butterfly however are more intricate and stylized and therefore I think of them as art work. Tattooing is an incredible talent that takes years to perfect, and even then I think the artists are always learning from the new and unique pieces they are presented with. I don't think any one should feel as though tattooing is a bad thing, or regretful. It's beautiful and unique and a lot of tattoo's mean something special to the beholder.
