Snoopy is my 4-5 year old Otter Rex house rabbit. I re homed him from the Cottontails Rabbit Rescue as a friend for my then lonely doe Bluebelle, who has since passed away. Every now and again, and seemingly randomly Snoopy has a tummy upset which causes him a lot of obvious discomfort where he sits hunched squeezing in his stomach or attempting to urinate without appearing to be able too, he also refuses to eat (Rare with him, he's a foodie). as bunny enthusiasts will know, this can be a fatal problem, as rabbits can develop a condition called gut statis after a prolonged period of refusing food - around 12 hours possibly less. So when Snoopy is poorly this way I really do get very concerned, plus it is not pleasant seeing your beloved pet in such obvious pain.
I have of course sought the advice of my vet who suggested that it could be a form of indigestion and gave me this bottle of liquid Zantac. When Snoopy has one of these random upsets I am to syringe feed him 3-5ml of zantac and then it's a waiting game. Sometimes this works within a few hours, as it did Sunday night when he had one of these moments, I gave him the zantac at around 11pm before bed and set my alarm for 330am to check on him, and at that early hour he was back to his usual self and I gave him something to eat. However in the past it has taken much longer and I have had to repeat the administration of zantac after four hours until he finally came round.
