The New Mrs Newblé

Hello again everyone!! I know I haven't posted in some time, but as you can guess, I have been a very busy bee. I got married on the 16th June at The west Barn in Bradford upon Avon - Wiltshire, England. It was a really perfect day and the rubbish English weather held out just long enough for all our photo's to be taken.
I had a really fun morning with all the girls and my mum getting ready, we started at 8am, my bridesmaid Emma is also a hair dresser, so she did everyone's hair as a gift to me, and her sister Laura is a beautician and beauty therapist, so she did everyone's make-up. Clara, my second bridesmaid cooked us all breakfast - scrambled eggs on toast, and my mum snapped photo's and watched it all happen until it was time to get us all in our dresses. All our dresses were lace up corset style and took ages.... Well, mine went on easy as pie actually, but the bridesmaids took some time. I also had a very special guest as a bridesmaid - my friend Emily who came all the way from Australia with her husband Corey to be there.
Back to the beginning, Emma took charge and she started Emily's hair while Laura began my make-up, this took around an hour to complete us both. Then we swapped and while I was having my hair done Laura was doing Emily's make up while Clara kept the breakfast coming. Once we all had our faces on and Emma had completed Clara's hair too, Emma slipped out to fly to the salon and have her own hair done. Soon I was sat like a meringue on the floor in my dress sipping a glass of champagne while my chauffeur arrived and photographer Dave had a cuppa and snapped a few more photo's.
My dad's arrival at about 1pm was the big thing, he hadn't wanted to see my choice of dress before hand so this was my first big reveal. He got a bit teary I must say but he held it together well, and helped me to slip on my Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes and mum grabbed the bouquet my Nan had made especially. Then Dad held my dress and helped me out to the 1968 Volkswagen camper van christened Greta, that I had hired as a wedding car. http://www.vwsplitscreenhire.co.uk/index.html The company featured on an episode of 'Don't Tell the Bride' in the UK & are local to us - it was like fate!

We stopped off on the main bridge in Bradford for some photo's in the park and next to the camper van,  but soon it was time to head towards the venue. We arrived a little early and my ushers came up to the van to say they were still waiting on two guests, which got me a little bit nervous as it was 1.50pm and I was due to make my entrance at 2! The last minute interview with the registrar went quickly and it was time to move the bus forward to the outside of the main venue. When I stepped out there was a few moments of sorting the dress and arranging the formation we were going to enter in, - we decided on bridesmaids first as their chairs were at the front and beings my dress was wide and the venue is small they'd struggle to get passed me if I went first. haha.

Moment of truth. As I entered I locked eyes with my Husband, Shaun. He had to look away and so did I, trying to compose myself not to cry as the song I had chosen is a real tear jerker.

Turning Page by Sleeping At Last.

I had to really focus on the registrar to pull myself together, but once I was composed I was okay and as we started the 'repeat after me' process all my fears of stumbling over the words vanished. Emma read a poem for Shaun, that I had chosen for him as  it was brilliant.

Yes I'll Marry You by Pam Ayres.

Yes, I'll marry you, my dear, and here's the reason why;
So I can push you out of bed when the baby starts to cry,
And if we hear a knocking and it's creepy and it's late,
I hand you the torch you see, and you investigate.

Yes I'll marry you, my dear, you may not apprehend it,
But when the tumble-drier goes, it's you that has to mend it,
You have to face the neighbor should our Labrador attack him,
And if a drunkard fondles me it's you that has to whack him.

Yes, I'll marry you, You're virile and you're lean,
My house is like a pigsty you can help to keep it clean.
& that sexy little dinner which you served by candlelight,
As I only do chipolatas, you can cook it every night!

It's you who has to work the drill and put up curtain track,
And when I've got PMT it's you who gets the flak,
I do see great advantages,
But none of them for you, and so before you see the light,
I do, I do, I do!

We exchanged rings with some vows and were then told we were Husband & Wife and to sign the register. While James Taylor's 'How Sweet It Is' played we posed for photo's and signed the document to seal the deal..

As a bit of a giggle and because ironically the lyrics are perfect, we exited the barn to 'We go Together' from the Grease soundtrack, then we could sip champagne and greet everyone before we posed for photo's outside the Tithe Barn opposite.

As I was getting ready to get back into the camper the heaven's opened and it rained for 2 hours, so it was perfect timing, although there was a break in the rain enough for a few snap shots outside The Full Moon pub when we arrived there for our reception. Our BBQ and buffet was excellent, everyone really enjoyed it, and we followed that with speeches, my dad started this off of course and got a few tears around the room I think. Shaun's was very well put together too and the best man finished it off nicely. Cream Tea with Home Made scones followed and then we were released to work the room and do our first dance.
