Vegetarian ones.... I know this seems totally pointless to most carnivores, but veggie's do miss some things, and a majority of sweets become off limits once you make the moral decision to quit all things with a face. Confectionery like marshmallows, and Haribo contain an ingredient called gelatin, which is "a protein substance derived from collagen, a natural protein present in the tendons, ligaments, and tissues of mammals. It is produced by boiling the connective tissues, bones and skins of animals, usually cows and pigs". This is what makes the sweets that solid jelly consistency. it's also present in many other foods, so it's always wise for us to read labels. However, there is a natural veggie version of gelatin, and some companies have been using this to make vegetarian equivalents of some tasty treats. I found a website recently that produces vegan marshmallows, although more expensive than your regular marshmallows they are handmade and delicious. I bought a small tub but you can buy them 1kg versions also. I was a little dubious about trying them to begin with, but there really is absolutely no taste difference between these vegan ones and original marshmallows. The only slight give away is the consistency isn't quite as solid, they are a bit more squishy, but it is incredibly difficult to tell them apart. I share my home with a carnivore and he has declared them a success as well, which I believe is quite an achievement! The company I bought mine from is called Sweet Vegan, and they make them in quite a few flavors too, such as coconut and strawberry, plus you can purchase tasting boxes that contain 3 of each flavor so you can decide what you like best!
I would recommend them to any veggie's who love marshmallows, it's one less thing for us to miss out on.
