Last week I was off of work, booked 5 days of holiday time away from rat race, & it was wonderful. I didn't really do much with my time, just enjoyed being at home with my husband, lost myself writing my novel, devoted some more time to reading The Hunger Games. (Now my forth time.... I'm a little obsessed, but I love them). It was nice to be away from it all, the 5.30 am starts, the dull monotony, the survival. During this time, my friends Corey & Emily in Australia had their baby boy, he's absolutely perfect!
This week I'm back at work, have been swapping messages with Emily & it has put everything in perspective a little bit. How much I want to move things along in my personal plans, like visiting my friends in Australia, touring America in a pick up truck or a Mustang - one can embellish the dream a little right? Once we are all traveled out and probably into our early 30's I'd like to settle down and put some roots in a foreign country, emigrate to Turkey - our honeymoon destination, where we fell in love with the country, the lifestyle, the customs, not to mention the weather!
Antalya, Turkey
We are currently in talks with my mum to give up our flat & most of our furniture to move back into her house so we can save lots of money in the next year or so & make these dreams a possible reality in the near future.
Pakenham, Melbourne Victoria.
We turn 26 this year, and although we are still young I suppose, time is no longer on our side, the clock is ticking for us to do these things while we are young enough, & I suppose it would be practical to be settled with roots somewhere if we decide to start a family at some point. Although I have to admit the idea of being a bohemian country hopping parent self teaching my kids values as they soak up different cultures is very appealing to me, so perhaps I'm not as committed to being settled to have a family as I suggest.
On The Road
This last week make me realize how much I long to have my career dreams & expectations come true also, & this why I have begun work on my own writing of a novel. I intend to take a 'Creative Writing for Fiction' course that begins in April to further my ideas, inspiration & talent in this area. I also know that I am not content with my current position as a QA technician. There's nothing wrong with the job itself as such, it just isn't me. I like to read, I like to write, I like to Perform.
I like to Travel, I like different cultures & languages, I love animals, & I support charities that help African families sustain themselves with livestock & crops. It would be wonderful to be able to combine just one of these things with my work & enjoy what I do, feel as though I belong, feel like I am making a difference to not only my own life but other peoples, develop a work & home based future that I can love, believe in, enjoy & over all, be happy!
